The 20-hour workload includes an average teaching commitment of 12 semester hours of instructinal teaching.

 

In case of a positive evaluation at the end of the fixed-term period of 4 years, the position will be changed to a permanent position.

Your workplace:

 

The Basic Experimental Physics Training and University Didactics group is part of the Faculty of Physics and focuses on basic experimental physics training as well as research into the teaching and learning of physics. Teaching is predominantly conducted in German. The group is seeking a Senior Lecturer (Instructional Teaching) to contribute to experimental basic education in degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Physics.

Your future tasks:

 

  • Conducting instructional teaching in the experimental physics core modules, particularly in the laboratory courses of the Bachelor`s programme in Physics and the Bachelor's programme in Teaching Education (Physics).
  • Actively contributing to the updating, redesign and development of physics experiments.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest scientific developments and engaging in ongoing didactic training are expected.
  • Participating in the Faculty's outreach activities for school students is encouraged.

 

What we expect:

 

We are looking for people who view university teaching as an interesting and challenging career field. The following qualifications are required for application:

 

  • A completed Master's or Diploma degree in Physics or in the teaching subject Physics.
  • Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution (ideally in an introductory physics laboratory course).
  • Excellent German language skills (C1) and good English skills.
  • Didactic competencies.
  • Experience with digital teaching and e-learning platforms such as Moodle and u:stream.
  • A team player with strong social and communication skills.
