Your personal sphere of influence:
As a university assistant prae doc, you will complement the research team Alwin Köhler. You will work on chromatin and transcription biology. The group is based at the Max Perutz Labs on the Vienna Biocenter Campus.
The Max Perutz Labs bring together the groups working in molecular biology at the University of Vienna. In order to intensify the collaboration with the Medical University of Vienna in the field of molecular biosciences, the Max Perutz Labs were founded in 2005. We maintain high-tech research infrastructures at two neighbouring locations, where around 450 scientists from more than 40 nations work in basic biomedical research in more than 45 research groups.

Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
• Contribution to research project regarding chromatin and transcription biology
• You work on your dissertation and its completion
• Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
• Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement
• Involvement in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia
• You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration
• Supervision of BSc and MSc students
This is part of your personality:
• University degree in Biology, Molecular Genetics or related fields
• Successful VBC PhD program Selection or similar international PhD Selection required
• Practical experience in single-molecule biochemistry
• Experience with basic bioinformatics tools
• High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
• Computer literacy (MS-Office; Imaging Software)
• Basic experience in academic writing
• Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
• Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level)
• Ability to work in a team
• Knowledge of university processes and structures

Employment duration: The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension.
