Your personal sphere of influence:
As university assistant preadoc you will complement the research team around Prof. Thomas Prügl. The foci of our research are the history of the Church in medieval and early modern times, the history of councils and medieval theology. You will bring your particular competence and interest to the team by specializing in any of these research areas. Your occupation will be three years.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching and administration, which means:
• you develop a dissertation project on a topic in medieval church history and pursue it during your tenure
• you are involved in research projects and scholarly publications of the research team
• you participate in third mission activities of the institute
• you provide teaching support and you hold courses independently within the scope and the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement
• you take on administrative tasks in teaching
• you are available for students who seek advice for term papers and exams
• you lend support for the organization of conferences and symposia
• you provide editorial support for the journal "Annales Historiae Conciliorum"
This is part of your personality:
• Completed Master's degree or Diploma in Catholic Theology (All curricula like Diploma, Teacher Training Catholic Religion, Catholic Education are applicable.)
• Completed Master thesis on a topic in medieval Church history or history of medieval theology
• Very good command of Latin and Greek
• Advanced competence in paleography and experience in the study of manuscript sources
• Excellent command of written and spoken German
• Very good command of spoken and written English
• Further language knowledge is desirable
• Teaching experience
• Familiarity with university procedures and experience in academic self-governance
• IT user skills (office, databases, website maintenance)
• You should be a team player with high social skills

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3,714,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.
Duration of contract: The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.
