The Department of Art History at the University of Vienna is one of the oldest and biggest centers for research and education in its field. One "Prae-doc" position (75%, University Assistant) is available from February 12th, 2025 for four months (as a substitute during maternity leave; an extension is potentially possible).
Your personal sphere of influence:
The position offers first-hand experience in academia culminating in a PhD diploma. The subject of the PhD should relate to the project ArtVis.ArtVis. Dynamic Network Perspectives on Digital Art History (https://crea.univie.ac.at/projects/artvis-dynamic-network-perspectives-on-digital-art-history/) and be within the areas of expertise of Prof. Raphael Rosenberg (early modern art history, history of avant-gardes, digital art history and especially cognitive research in art history).
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

PhD thesis
-
the assistance of Prof. Rosenberg in teaching and research,
-
independent teaching in art history (one course per semester),
-
participation in the administration of the department.
This is part of your personality:

Above-average MA in art history,
-
excellent English and or German,
-
good computer skills (knowledge of a programming language would be advantageous).
