The Department of Art History at the University of Vienna is one of the oldest and biggest centers for research and education in its field. One "Prae-doc" position (75%, University Assistant) is available from August 15th 2024 for four months (as a substitute during maternity leave; an extension is potentially possible).

Your personal sphere of influence:


The position offers first-hand experience in academia culminating in a PhD diploma. The subject of the PhD should be within the areas of expertise of Prof. Raphael Rosenberg (early modern art history, history of avant-gardes, digital art history and especially cognitive research in art history).

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • PhD thesis

  • the assistance of Prof. Rosenberg in teaching and research,

  • independent teaching in art history (one course per semester),

  • participation in the administration of the department.

     

This is part of your personality:

  • Above-average MA in art history,

  • excellent English and or German,

  • good computer skills (knowledge of a programming language would be advantageous).

What we offer:


Extent of Employment: 30 hours/week. Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe praedoc (basic salary of EUR 3578,80 on a full-time basis) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
