Your personal sphere of influence:
Your future position is at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology in the team of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ayse Caglar. The team is characterized by its research in the areas of the Political Economy of Urban Governance, Displacement and Dispossession. You strengthen the team by your expertise in the field of Anthropology of extraction, labour, violence and governance of migrants and refugees.
As part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology not only brings together renowned scientists and students, but also different research areas, a variety of ethnographic methods, a large number of outstanding research projects and appreciative collegial exchange.
The employment duration is 3 years (36 months). Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. Preferred date of employment is 19.11.2024.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You are involved in research projects in the area of Anthropology of extraction, labour, violence and governance of migrants and refugees.
- You publish your research in international highly-ranked journals.
- You present your research at national and international conferences, meetings, and symposia.
- You contribute actively to third party funding project applications.
- You cooperate in the organization of international workshops and conferences and in the preparation of publications.
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You work on your dissertation and its completion.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of Social and Cultural Anthropology or Sociology (in very exceptional cases geography or political science).
- Outstanding master's thesis and excellent academic results
- Ideally, you have didactic skills and experience in lecturing and/or teaching.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level)
- You should be a team player with high social skills
