With 27 subjects, one specialization and over 12,000 students enrolled in teacher education programmes the University of Vienna is the biggest teacher education institution in Austria. The Centre for Teacher Education is the organizational focal point for all questions regarding the teacher education programme at the University of Vienna. In cooperation with the other faculties and centres as well as the partner organizations of the 'Verbund Nord-Ost'; it aims to strengthen and further develop the quality of research and teaching in the field of teacher education. We are looking for a committed predoctoral university assistant to support the development of the General Subject Didactics research group at the Institute for Teacher Education.

Your personal sphere of influence:

Your future position is in the work group of Prof. Dr. Martin Rothgangel. This position is the first predoctoral position for General Subject Didactics, which also offers particular potential internationally. There are also many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. Active participation in the Doctoral School in Education is expected.

 

Duration of contract: The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of General Subject Didactics.
  • You participate in publications / academic articles / presentations.
  • You will take on the role of "Managing Editor" of the journal RISTAL
  • We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
  • You work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed Master's/Diploma degree in teaching or in a degree programme with a focus on subject didactics/subject pedagogy
  • Basic experience in academic writing and with research methods
  • Knowledge of empirical research methods is desirable
  • Didactic competences / experience with e-learning
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German and English (C1 Level)
  • IT user skills
  • You should be a team player with high social skills
