The Department of Civil Law is looking to fill a position as university assistant ("prae doc") with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Christiane Wendehorst, LL.M. (Cantab.) starting July 1st 2024. The employment contract for prae doc assistants is initially limited to 1.5 years and will be automatically extended to a total of 3 years, unless the employer declares non-renewal after 12 months at the latest. An extension for another year (to a total of 4 years) is possible. Interested persons with a degree in law and excellent academic results, especially in civil law and in the subsidiary subjects of private law, are invited to apply. You can expect a dedicated team that deals in research and teaching with civil law in its entire breadth and its corporate law aspects and very specifically with current legal issues and developments in the field of digitalization (e.g. current issues regarding artificial intelligence, data economics, platform regulation, data protection). The willingness to actively contribute to larger research and publication projects as well as to the preparation of courses in a team is required. Excellent command of German and English is required, knowledge of other foreign languages is an advantage.

  • Participation in research, teching and administration
  • Participation in research projects / research studies
  • Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
  • Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
  • Supervision of students
  • Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
  • Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months

Minimum requirements: 

 

  • Completion of a law degree
  • Professional competence
  • Methodological competence, Didactic competence
  • High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • IT user skills
  • Ability to work in a team

Desirable qualifications are:

 

  • Teaching experience / experience of working with e-learning
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Basic experience in research methods and academic writing Application documents
