The Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (VDS-PhaNuSpo) provides a cutting-edge scientific training for doctoral candidates all research areas of the three doctoral programmes. It aims to attract excellent students from around the world and guide them towards research at the forefront of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport sciences in a vibrant and dynamic community in the heart of Europe. The doctoral school is embedded in the Faculty of Life Sciences and the Centre for Sport Science and University Sports.
Your personal sphere of influence:
The VDS-PhaNuSpo offers 2 Short-term Finishing Contracts to its active VDS-PhaNuSpo doctoral candidates in their final phase, regardless of whether they are employed or not, and to those who were employed by the University of Vienna within six months prior to the start of the Finishing Contract (NB: residence status must allow for a contract). In the latter case, the alternative completion grant, the VDS-PhaNuSpo Completion Scholarship, cannot be granted. The recipient will be employed as University Assistant (predoctoral). The duration of employment is 3 months and the extent of employment is 30 hours/week.
Applications will only be accepted from PhD candidates who are members of the VD-PhaNuSpo, who meet the requirements for PhD studies and whose supervisor is also a member of the doctoral school.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Your main task is to complete and to submit your dissertation by the end of the funding period at the latest.
- You meet and consult with your supervisor(s) / TAC on a regular basis in order to priorities your tasks and get the necessary support to complete your dissertation successfully in time.
- You participate in your department's and the Doctoral School activities and workshops.
- You participate in conferences and publish research results in peer-reviewed journals.
- You actively seek support (workshops, training, coaching etc.) if needed.
This is part of your personality:
- Excellent academic and doctoral study record (e.g. FÖP and doctoral thesis agreement within one year, annual submission of progress reports; conference presentations, publication record etc.).
- High level of motivation and commitment to succesfully complete your doctoral studies within the anticipated time frame.
- Collaborative, team-minded and pro-active attitude.
- High level of written and oral communication skills.

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3,714,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience. The contract will be for three months and will start between 1 July - 1 Dec 2025.
