The Faculty of Psychology at the University of Vienna comprises the Dean's Office, a StudiesServiceCenter (SSC) and four institutes.The position to be filled is based at the Chair of Clinical Psychology of Childhood and Adolescence (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martina Zemp) at the Institute of Clinical and Health Psychology. Our research area investigates, among other things, family risk and protective factors for mental disorders in childhood and adolescence in basic and applied research (see for specific focal points: https://kpkj-psy.univie.ac.at/forschung/forschungsschwerpunkte/). Methodological foci include research syntheses, Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) and behavioral observation of family interactions. We offer excellent working opportunities (including a newly established observation laboratory in the faculty's outpatient unit for research, teaching and practice, https://flpa-psy.univie.ac.at), a young and motivated working team as well as international collaborations and intensive support with the possibility of further scientific qualification (possibly habilitation) for young researchers. The position is limited to a period of 6 years and the employment level is 20 hours/week.

Your personal sphere of play:


As a university assistant postdoc, you will join the research team and take on the following tasks:

  • Independent planning, implementation and evaluation of research projects (quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods studies with a special focus on observational data of family interactions)
  • Advanced statistical evaluations (in particular machine learning-based analyses and research syntheses such as scoping/systematic reviews, meta-analyses and meta-science approaches)
  • Leading functions in data protection issues, data management and general research workflows
  • Publication of research results in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Active participation in national and international scientific conferences
  • Independent teaching of courses in accordance with the collective agreement
  • Student supervision (especially co-supervision of master’s theses)
  • Participation in the administration of the institute, teaching and research
  • Acquisition of third-party funds
  • Holding of examinations, if necessary

This is part of your personality:

 

  • Completed doctoral studies/PhD in a relevant research area (clinical child and adolescent psychology or family psychology)
  • High interest in research in the field of clinical psychology of childhood and adolescence, especially in the specific focus areas of the working group (https://kpkj-psy.univie.ac.at/forschung/forschungsschwerpunkte/)
  • Extensive experience in the management/implementation of research projects and in scientific publishing
  • Very good knowledge of quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods analysis methods and motivation to deepen methodological skills
  • Experience in acquiring third-party funding
  • Experience in teaching
  • Experience in student supervision (especially in the context of final theses)
  • Very good written and spoken German
  • Very good written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to work in a team 
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment
  • High level of initiative and independence

The following qualifications are also desirable: 

 

  • Proven research expertise & initiative through international publications
  • Relevant publications in the research areas of the working group
  • Methodological knowledge in machine learning-based analyses, research syntheses and behavioral observation
  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Aptitude for independent teaching of courses in the working context of the department
