Your personal sphere of play:
Our department operates within a tightly woven international research network and runs a renowned open-access journal (Ex Fonte). Thus, we offer ideal conditions to deepen and expand your personal research horizon in various subjects of liturgical studies, sacramental theology and ecumenical theology.
We are a dedicated, cooperative team which currently consists of three prae-doc-assistants and one administrative assistant in addition to the head of department, Prof. Feulner.
The Liturgical Studies team offers a productive and relaxed atmosphere in which all employees support each other in regards to their ongoing projects. Close cooperation is important to us!
The position will be available to be taken up on March 5, 2025, and will be re-opened on March 4, 2031.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research and teaching, which means:
- You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation thesis.
- You (further) create an independent research profile in the field of liturgical studies.
- You participate in research projects and scientific studies within the various areas of theological studies described above.
- You publish internationally and give lectures.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You hold courses independently in accordance with the collective agreement provisions.
- You support your students in regards to research and exam preparation.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
This is part of your personality:
- completed doctoral/PhD studies in theological studies (focus on liturgical studies and sacramental theology)
- excellent German language skills, very good English language skills, and expensive user experience in MS Office
- profound knowledge of Eastern liturgical families
- outstanding dissertation and research experience in the field of liturgical theology, especially concerning current issues (including Benedicitions and Ordinations)
- solid knowledge of university self-governance, especially concerning quality assurance
- didactic skills / experience in e-learning
- target criteria also include a profound knowledge of Italian as well as solid French language skills.
- very good language skills in the languages commonly used in liturgical studies (Latin, Ancient Greek etc.)
- IT skills
- qualities of a team player
- representational qualities
Further desirable qualities are:
- experience in building inter-university partnerships
- knowledge of several oriental languages (Syriac, Coptic, Ethiopian , etc.)
- know-how in the area of university procedures and structures
- experience with e-learning
- past participation in academic research projects
- publications in reputable media relevant to the field (peer-reviewed depending on professional standards)
- experience abroad
- experience with providing student support
- user skills in Adobe InDesign are also welcomed

Level of employment: 40 hours/week (full-time)
Basic salary according to the classification of the collective bargaining agreement: Salary group B1 according to the Salary scheme with a basic salary of EUR 4,351.90 (14 times a year)
