Your personal sphere of play:

Your future position is at the department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies, characterized by excellent research in the language, literature, history and culture of Byzantium as well as in Modern Greek Studies.The department is part of the faculty of Historical and Cultural Studies.

 

The position is limited to 28.02.2031 and is planned to be filled from 01.03.2025. 

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

 

  • You build up an independent research profile in the field of Byzantine Studies. 
  • You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Byzantine language and literature. 
  • You publish internationally and give lectures.
  • You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. You mentor and/or supervise students in Byzantine studies.
  • You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration
  • You take an active part in the academic life of the University, within the Faculty of Historical-Cultural Studies and within the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies.

This is part of your personality: 

 

•    Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Byzantine literary culture
•    Outstanding dissertation
•    Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-relevant media
•    Competence in conducting research projects
•    Experience in writing funding applications
•    Experience in mentoring students and university-level teaching
•    Excellent knowledge of Ancient and Medieval Greek is essential. Knowledge of Latin is a significant advantage.
•    Good knowledge of English is desirable. 
•    Team player and high social/communicative skills
•    Organizational abilities
