Your personal sphere of influence:

Your future position is going to be at the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology in the team of Prof. Dr. Peter Schweitzer. We are looking for a person with field research experience in the European Arctic and corresponding language skills. Research and publication experience on infrastructure and the built environment, as well as climate change and environmental anthropology is desirable.

As part of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology not only brings together renowned scientists and students, but also different research areas, a variety of ethnographic methods, a large number of outstanding research projects and appreciative collegial exchange.

This is a full time position with 40h per week. The contract duration is 3 years..

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

 

  • You actively collaborate in finalizing the ERC Advanced Grant InfraNorth.
  • You may be involved in other research projects in environmental anthropology and neighboring fields.
  • You have the opportunity to develop your own research projects. 
  • You publish internationally and give lectures.
  • You prepare a publication of your dissertation or habilitation.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You supervise your students.
  • You participate in evaluation measures and quality assurance. 
  • You take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.

Qualifications:

 

  • Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field of cultural and social anthropology or comparable studies
  • Outstanding dissertation 
  • International publications in peer-reviewed media
  • Field research experience in the European Arctic 
  • Didactic skills
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English (at least C1) and knowledge of another foreign language
  • Team player with high social/communication skills
