Your future position:

You will be working at the Department of English and American Studies as a member of the Fun*Cog Research team, where you will be doing research into the relation between functional and formal aspects of linguistic expressions within the framework of a functionally oriented theory of / approach to language.
The Department of English and American Studies is part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies and has more than sixty members of staff. Research and teaching cover literary and cultural studies and linguistics. Currently more than 3500 students are enrolled in its Bachelor, Masters, Diploma, PhD and Teacher Education programmes.

 

The position (20h/week) is limited to 4 years and is planned to be filled from 01.09.2024. 

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You will develop an independent research profile in the area of English functional linguistics
  • You will participate in research conducted by the research team
  • You will publish internationally and present at international conferences
  • You will teach courses in the area of theoretical linguistics
  • You will take on administrative tasks within the department

Your profile: 

  • Completed PhD in theoretical (English/General) linguistics
  • Research project in the area of (English) functional linguistics
  • Good knowledge of, and a willingness to apply and develop at least one functional theory
  • Several publications in international, peer-reviewed journals / edited volumes
  • Experience in teaching at Bachelor’s level; experience in e-learning
  • Excellent knowledge of English
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team
