Your personal sphere of play:

Your future position is part of the department of English and American Studies and the team of Anglophone literatures, characterized by a strong interdisciplinarity, excellent research in literary and cultural studies as well as an engaged student body.
The department and team are part of the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies where a broad spectrum of humanities research is undertaken. Academic staff and students profit from the faculty’s diversity of subjects, internationality, outstanding research projects, infrastructure like the MediaLab and the potential to meet and exchange with colleagues and students within and across departments.

 

This position is a replacement position, which is limited to 3.5 months. The position can be extended by an additional 12 months if necessary.
 

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You build and further develop an independent research profile in an area of contemporary Anglophone literatures and/or cultures, including intersectionality, postcolonial theory, gender studies, or other related fields.
  • You are involved in research projects in the area of contemporary literary and cultural studies.
  • You publish internationally and present your research at conferences.
  • You work on your habilitation project.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You supervise your students at the BA and MA level.
  • You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.

This is part of your profile: 

•    Completed doctoral/PhD studies in English literature and/or cultural studies
•    Outstanding dissertation
•    Research competence in the areas of British and Anglophone Literatures and Cultures proven through publications in peer-relevant media
•    Experience in research management
•    Didactic skills in teaching and supervision, including e-learning
•    High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing
•    Excellent command of written and spoken English
•    IT user skills
•    Team player and high social/communicative skills

Desirable additional qualifications are:

  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Experience abroad
