The Isotope Physics group at the Faculty of Physics pursues fundamental and application-oriented research with the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA), an internationally recognized facility for Accelerator Mass Spectrometry that uses a compact particle accelerator.
We are looking for an employee who has the necessary qualifications to support us, especially in the technical operation of VERA.
The position is initially limited to 6 months with the intent to extend indefinitely.
Your job includes:
- You support the technical operation of VERA, and you are responsible for production, maintenance work and repairs using workshop machinery.
- You contribute to our research and teaching activities by designing and constructing equipment and devices for experiments in collaboration with scientists and students.
- You are responsible for the laboratory infrastructure of the Isotope Physics group (pneumatics, cooling water, fume cupboards, etc.).
- You take care of the technical and administrative management of the mechanical workshop. This includes maintenance and servicing of machines, ordering of consumables and coordination of maintenance and repair work by external companies.
This is part of your profile - Must-have:
- Completed secondary education, e.g. HTL Mechanical Engineering.
- Very good German language skills (fluent in writing and speaking) and sufficient skills in English (B2 level or higher; no certificate required).
- User knowledge of Windows.
Desirable qualification - Should-have:
- Workshop experience.
- Practical experience in handling standard workshop measuring devices, vacuum devices, etc.
- CAD, CAM skills.
- Skills in machining processes or welding.
