The Faculty of Chemistry is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mass Spectrometry Core Facility Manager to oversee the operations of our advanced mass spectrometry facility. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge chemical and interdisciplinary research while managing state-of-the-art instrumentation. The position is initially limited to one year with the option of subsquent permanent employment.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Oversee the daily operations of the mass spectrometry core facility, including responsibility for personnnel and budget.
- Maintain and develop relations with users and customers.
- Maintain calibrate and troubleshoot high-end mass spectrometers (e.g., LC-MS, GC-MS, MALDI_TOF and ICP-MS).
- Develop and optimize analytical methods for chemical, biochemical, and environmental applications.
- Provide training, consultation and technical support to researchers, students and faculty members.
- Manage budgets, facility usage and service (curate the web-based research facility management software)
- Generate customized reports.
- Stay updated on the latest mass spectrometry advancements and implement best practices.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
• Ph.D. or equivalent experience in analytical chemistry or a related field.
• Extensive hands-on experience with mass spectrometry techniques and data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot instrumentation.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills to collaborate with diverse research groups.
• Prior experience in facility management is an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
• Team player and high social/communicative skills
