As a Senior Lecturer, you will play a major role in the education of students. Besides a well-founded education, we attach particular importance to the personal qualification of students. We support students in developing a curious and problem-solving way of thinking and thereby create a solid basis for professional challenges of the next generation.

Your workplace:

The position of Senior Lecturer is assigned to the Department of Geography and Regional Research (Institut für Geographie und Regionalforschung / lfGR) at the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. With more than 100 academic staff and 3.500 students, more than half of whom are teacher training students, lfGR offers an inspiring environment to address urgent societal challenges in research and teaching. As Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching both at the Bachelor's level and at the Master's level in the field of economic education as part of the teacher training program for geography and economic education.

 

The working time of 30 hours/week includes teaching duties of, on average, 10.5 semester hours of academic teaching.
 

Task description:

  • You independently conduct courses in German at the Bachelor's and Master's level in the field of economic education as part of the teacher training program for geography and economic education
  • You supervise papers of students in Bachelor's courses and Master's theses (on the basis of the statutes of the University of Vienna)
  • You actively contribute to (further) developing course and exam formats (including digital teaching and learning opportunities)
  • The ongoing reception of the current state of research as well as didactic further training and taking over research tasks are expected
  • In addition, taking over administrative activities, especially in the administration of teaching, is part of the task profile

Requirements for application resp. hiring conditions:

  • Completed doctorate in the field
  • Several years of independent, professionally relevant, and well-evaluated teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Very good didactic skills (including digital formats)
  • Enthusiasm for university teaching and working with students
  • You are a team player with excellent social and communicative skills.
