Do you enjoy working with young people, are you curious, and do you want to pass on your knowledge?  As a Senior Lecturer, you play a crucial role in educating students. In addition to providing a solid academic education, we also place a special emphasis on the personal development of students. We support students in developing curiosity and critical thinking, thereby creating a solid foundation for the professional challenges of the next generation.

Description of position:

As a senior lecturer, your primary responsibilities will be in the field of Hungarian Studies. Your academic interests are directly connected to the department's current research priorities (Hungarian literature in a European context, with particular focus on Austria: regionality, minority literatures and literary multilingualism; cultural history of women and women's literature; transnationalism and cultural mediation; Hungarian children's and young adult literature). Your teaching will include, among other things, introductory courses on the theory and methodology of literary and cultural studies in the BA programme "Hungarian and Finnish Studies" and in the sub-curriculum "Hungarian as a Teaching Subject" as well as in-depth courses on modern Hungarian literature on a BA and MA level.

20 hours/week include a teaching obligation of an average of 7 semester hours of academic teaching.
 

Description of tasks:

You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means:
•    You will independently teach courses at the BA and MA level
•    You actively contribute to the (further) development of course and examination frameworks
•    You will be expected to keep up to date with the current state of science, participate in didactic training, and accept research tasks during the course-free period.
•    In addition, the administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching, are part of the job profile.

Requirements for application and admission:

 

  • Completed doctorate in a relevant field.
  • Research focus within the area of modern Hungarian literature
  • Excellent knowledge of German and Hungarian
  • Several years of independent teaching at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Good student evaluation of your past teaching
  • Enthusiasm for knowledge transfer and university teaching
  • Willingness to actively represent the department externally. Experience of scientific and Science 2 Public events and study information events.
