In case of a positive evaluation at the end of the fixed-term period of 4 years, the position will be converted into a permanent one. 

Your workplace:

The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. It is dedicated to innovative and problem-oriented research and provides students with a wide range of specialisations. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas.

 

As a Senior Lecturer, you will be responsible for academic teaching in the Political Science degree programmes for an average of 8 semester hours per week.


Your teaching activities will focus on the basics of political science, academic work in political science, the teaching of substantive courses and the introduction of students to writing academic theses in the BA and MA programmes.

Your future tasks:

  • You will teach courses independently for an average of 8 SWS per semester. The willingness to increase the employment relationship if required is desired.
  • You will teach the (interdisciplinary) basics of political science and academic work in political science; will hold courses focusing on international politics and/or political economy; and you will supervise students in the context of Bachelor's and Master's degree seminars.
  • You will take on administrative tasks, especially in the administration of teaching.
  • We expect you to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments and to participate in further didactic training, the exchange of experience between teachers and quality assurance measures.

  • Completed doctoral studies, in the field of political science
  • Several years of independent teaching experience at a post-secondary educational institution
  • Didactic skills/experience in digital teaching and e-learning
  • Research and publication experience
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English
  • IT user skills (e.g. Moodle)
  • Knowledge of the interdisciplinary, methodological and scientific theoretical foundations of political science as well as in the fields of international politics and political economy is desirable
  • You are a team player with high social skills
  • You are flexible, quick on the uptake and open to new ideas
  • You are well organized, conscientious and enjoy teaching in a student- and competence-oriented manner
