The University of Vienna, in collaboration with the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology and the Cluster of Excellence QuantA, is seeking a dedicated Quantum Knowledge & Innovation Broker to join our dynamic team.

Your personal sphere of play:

As a Quantum Knowledge & Innovation Broker in the field of quantum technologies, you will play a key role in bridging the gap between cutting-edge research in quantum science and technology and its practical applications for industry and new Spin-Offs. You will be a part of an open, friendly, and collaborative working environment at the Department for Quantum Optics, Quantum Nanophysics and Quantum Information of the Faculty of Physics. We offer exciting and challenging opportunities in quantum technologies through our collaborations with the Vienna Center for Quantum Science and Technology and the Cluster of Excellence QuantA.

Your future tasks:

Your responsibilities will include:

•    Workshops, training, and consulting for (early career) researchers in close collaboration with the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Vienna,
•    Support entrepreneurship activities for (early career) researchers in close collaboration with the Technology Transfer Office of the University of Vienna,
•    Active participation in administration and teaching (flexible and negotiable),
•    Scout for partnerships with existing start-up programs, incubators, funding agencies, and  relevant EU Programs,
•    Help to establish a local and international network of quantum companies, start-ups, and other stakeholders to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing,
•    Technology scouting to identify emerging technologies and innovations in the field of quantum science,
•    Raise awareness for the innovation and entrepreneurship services of the University of Vienna,
•    Support awareness raising for new innovative quantum technologies.

 

This is part of your personality: 

Ideally, we are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:

•    A Ph.D. degree in physics, engineering, or a related field, ideally with a strong quantum science and technology background.
•    Previous experience and skills in technology transfer, knowledge brokerage, or related roles in academia or industry, especially in quantum technologies, are highly advantageous.
•    A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Proficiency in both German and English (oral and written).

Fixed-term contract and fair salary: The initial contract is for one year (with the potential for renewal for the duration of the project) including a basic salary of EUR 4,351.90 (14 times a year). Compensation based on your qualifications and experience can be further negotiated.
