Your position is at the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology. The research group led by Prof. Dr Stefanie Höhl is a dynamic, highly motivated and international team whose work is characterised by mutual support, respect and an appreciation of diversity. Our research targets mechanisms of human development and learning by integrating different levels of observation and analysis, including cognitive, behavioral, neural and physiological processes. We adhere to open science principles, value collaboration and provide high-quality support to early career researchers.
The contract duration is initially limited to 1 year. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible. The start date is flexible.
Your personal sphere of influence:
We are seeking applicants for a PraeDoc position related to a project on neural processing of rhythms in early development, co-supervised by Alicja Brzozowska, PhD and Prof. Dr Stefanie Höhl. The candidate should have a strong interest in developmental cognitive neuroscience and its experimental methods, in particular EEG and eye-tracking. Applicants should have experience conducting and analysing behavioural experiments with human participants. The ideal candidate will have experience working with developmental populations (especially infants).
Your future tasks:
The position entails active participation in research and administration. This involves:
- Participation in research projects
- Participation in publications and presentations
- Working on your dissertation and towards its completion in time
- Supervision of students
- Involvement in the organization of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in project and research administration
These are your skills:
- Magister/Master in Psychology/Neuroscience/Cognitive Biology or similar
- Experimental research skills with human participants, ideally infants
- Programming skills (Matlab/Python/R)
- Advanced statistical analyses skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Ability to work in a team and excellent communication skills.
Desirable qualifications are:
- Experience in recording and analysing electrophysiological/eye-tracking data
- German language skills
Your personal sphere of influence:
A prae-doc position is available in the “Selective Neural Entrainment and Dynamic Attention in Infants” project (30 hours/week, for 12 months with a possible extension up to 4 years).
The position is assigned to the Research Unit “Developmental psychology” (Chair Prof. Dr. Stefanie Höhl). The group focuses primarily on aspects of social-cognitive development in early childhood and conducts research on topics such as the development of joint attention and social learning (e.g., imitation). Our methodological focus is on experimental and neuroscience research (e.g., eye tracking, EEG, fNIRS). We offer an excellent working environment including a fully equipped lab with cutting-edge technology, international collaborations and substantial support for early-career researchers. The basic salary is EUR 3,578.80 based on full-time (40h).
