The Querques Lab is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher with a background in biochemistry and structural biology (cryo-EM). This position is funded through our ERC Starting Grant BROADCAST.


If you are passionate about mobile DNA, structural biology, and genome engineering, we invite you to join our team! 

Our lab focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which mobile genetic elements (MGEs) move between and within genomes. We aim to explore their biological impact on genome remodeling and leverage this knowledge to develop new tools for genome engineering.

Our research integrates structural biology with a variety of biochemical, biophysical, and biotechnological approaches, including cell-based assays, protein design, and genome editing experiments.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You are involved in research projects and scientific studies 
  • You publish internationally 
  • You supervise your students 
  • You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.

This is part of your personality: 

•    PhD in biochemistry, structural biology, or a related discipline
•    Proven expertise in cryo-EM
•    Experience in RNA biology, CRISPR-Cas genome editing, and analysis of proteomics, RNA/DNA sequencing datasets is highly desired
•    Proactive and eager to learn new methods and topics
•    Strong collaborative attitude in the lab
•    Excellent knowledge of English (C1) 
•    Team player and high social/communicative skills
