With 27 subjects, one specialization and over 12,000 students enrolled in teacher education programmes the University of Vienna is the biggest teacher education institution in Austria. The Centre for Teacher Education is the organizational focal point for all questions regarding the teacher education programme at the University of Vienna. In cooperation with the other faculties and centres as well as the partner organizations of the 'Verbund Nord-Ost'; it aims to strengthen and further develop the quality of research and teaching in the field of teacher education. We're searching for a committed university assistant (prae doc) for the section Education at the Department for Teacher Education.

Your personal sphere of influence:

The advertised position is located in the field of School Pedagogy with Particular Emphasis on Social, Cultural and Linguistic Diversity. As a university assistant prae doc, you will complement the research team around Prof. Susanne Schwab.

 

The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration.

Your future tasks:

You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:

  • You are developing and strengthening an independent research profile.
  • You are involved in research projects and scientific studies.
  • You work on your dissertation and its completion.
  • You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • You supervise students.
  • You participate in evaluation and quality assurance measures.
  • You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
     

This is part of your personality:

  • Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of Educational Sciences and/or Teacher Training
  • Basic experience in academic writing
  • Good knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods as well as experience with systematic reviews
  • Experience in publishing academic articles
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German as well as English
  • IT user skills
  • Ability to work in a team

  • Knowledge of university processes and structures
  • Didactic competences
  • Experience in international presentations
  • Experience abroad
  • Experience in international research projects
